Google is launching its new augmented reality walking directions feature for Google maps, called Google Maps Live View. This would be available to Andriod phones that have system-level support for AR and the iPhones.
Earlier this year, the AR walking directions appear on Google’s Pixel phones, showing real-time navigation in Google Maps through your phone’s camera. But starting today it’ll be rolling out to everyone (this might take a couple of weeks depending on when you actually get pushed the update).
The Google Maps Live View feature helps you navigate by providing quick and easy directions, all you have to do is to hold your phone up next to streets and your surroundings to see arrows and directions overlaid on top of the camera view to make it far easier to locate the building and your destinations.
This feature would help you when you travel or visit an unfamiliar area or setting.
Navigation just became easier with the Google Maps Live View Feature.
So how does Live View feature work?
STEP 1: Search for a location you want to talk to or tap it on a map
STEP 2: Tap on the directions button at the bottom
STEP 3: Select walking directions at the top of the screen
STEP 4: Tap on the new Live View option at the bottom of the screen
Google mapping service is getting bigger and updates are rolling out, this new Google Maps Live View Feature is exciting and google wants Travel and Maps to be the place you plan your trips from start to finish. There is also, a one-stop ‘Reservations’ tab in Maps for all your stored flights, hotel stays and more – plus it’s backed up offline. This should be rolling out over the next few weeks.
